2012 Reflections

Well it has been a while since I've gotten on here.  Since Redman to be exact...There is a reason for that...After Redman, I was physically drained...I call it "race hangover".  I didn't care if I saw another pool, bike, or pair of running shoes ever!  And I'm not even exaggerating!  Lucky for me DK and Catherine both had marathons coming up so they kept me running a little otherwise, it could have been ugly!

Anyway, as I sit down and write this I have just run the New Year's Eve 1/2 Marathon and I will write  that up later because I am so excited about that for many reasons.

But here I want to get down what I did in 2012 so I can fully appreciate what my body has allowed me to do this year.

My goal for running this year was 1,200 miles.  Well I didn't come in at 1,200, I wound up with 1,137 miles but, I am not going to go too hard on myself on this one because when I set those goals I wasn't expecting to get back into triathlon this year.  I certainly wasn't expecting to add a half ironman in there! Adding the triathlon training to my schedule meant, less running, more biking and swimming.  Which leads me to my next goals...oh wait...I didn't have any more goals so that means everything else was icing on the cake!

I wound up with 1,200 miles of cycling!  That's a lot of bike time for me!  I learned to love my bike again this year and cycled further than I have ever gone on a single ride. Up until this year I hadn't done more than about 40-45 miles and I only did that twice. This year I had multiple 50+ mile rides.

I finished with 32 miles of swimming...ehhh - that's okay I guess. I mean it's good, but I really need to swim more.  I will do that I think this year.
Just keep swimming...

So overall, I think I had a fabulous year.  I am so excited to be doing tri's again and even more excited to be sharing it with so many wonderful friends and family! Yep, this year my mom did a 5K in the spring and since then my dad has started running!  I love it!  I am so proud of them both for proving to me that age is just a number - nothing else!  I want to be just like them when I grow up! :-)

I am so thankful for all the wonderful people that continue to inspire me and help me reach my goals! I am thankful that I have a healthy body and an understanding husband.

So next year what are my goals?  I'm not completely sure yet.  I want to keep working on my speed with running, and I look forward to a PR at Redman in the fall, other than that - I am along for the ride right now.  We are just going to see what this year has in store for me!  I have had so many incredibly wonderful times this year, I can't wait for 2013!
