Fall Update...

It's been a while since I updated...so thought it was time for a post...for my own records if nothing else.

This fall was filled with lots of fun races.  I also found out that I would be a member of Team Beef for 2015!

In September, I did the Blackland Triathlon again. I love that race because it is so close to home and it's short and fast and just lots of fun.  I think my favorite part is seeing so many friends out there and all the kids doing the kids' race.  I admire those little ones. I NEVER thought about triathlon when I was that age. In fact, I didn't think of triathlon until after I had kids!

In October, the boys and I did the Mavs 5k in downtown Dallas.  It was a night 5k and it was super fun. They got tickets for a Mavs game for completing it and a super cool Mavs shirt.  I would totally do this race again!

I did my first trail relay this year.  I have done a relay before when I did the Texas Independence Relay.  This one was a little different and TONS of fun.  We had 8 friends who were on Team Cray Cray.  There were 3 different trails and each person ran one trail at a time. By the time it was all over, you had run all three trails for a total of a little over 15 miles. They were some of the rockiest, trickiest trails I had run.  I ran 7 miles in the middle of the night by myself and that was the scariest part for me.  It turned out it was also my favorite part!  It was so quiet and peaceful.  The other two times I ran it was SO hot and there was no shade!  It was so fun though!  I had the best team - and I hear their team captain was the best one out there. At least that is what, Greg kept telling me.

Beautiful Hill County

Team Cray Cray Done!

Rocky much???

Seriously how can you not have fun when all you have to worry about is when you get to run next....oh and you have to worry about friends that have cameras while you get your beauty sleep...
The weekend after Ragnar, Catherine and I did the Best of the Best triathlon in Denton. It was tons of fun. I was nervous because the weather could have been really iffy being in November. It was chilly at the start and it warmed up quick. Everything went well except I got a slow leak on my back tire about mile 13 out of 16 and had to pull over and air it up.  It turned out okay though!
Before the race with this hottie...

Next up was the Blue/Red half marathon in November.  I was aiming for this to be a goal race so I could get a qualifying time for the Pike's Peak Ascent in August. I had been training with my friend Erin. She was killing her workouts...Me -eh - not so much. If you know me, you won't be surprised to learn that I HATE training...I hate, hate, hate it...so I did some of her workouts.

When it was time for Blue/Red I was just hoping for a 2:25. That would give me a time I could use.  It was cold and rainy.  Perfect....
Before the race with my peeps: Royce, Erin, and Teri

Faking like I am having fun...
Well because I was trying to beat my friend Catherine's husband, I wound up getting my qualifying time AND a PR!  I ran that thing in 2:13:38!  I was dying at the end and could barely walk and I did NOT beat him but it was close -- 14 seconds close...

Being a good loser...It killed me...
After Blue/Red in November, was Isle Du Bois by Endurance Buzz Adventures.  I love them and this was my second time to run this race.  December in Texas is always iffy on the weather, so I am always nervous about signing up for a December race.  But I couldn't resist this one because I could use my discount for volunteering at another one of their races and tons of my peeps were going to be out there.  I chose to drop from the 36k to the 18k last minute. So thankful I did. That is a beautiful course but it is so rocky that it is hard to get any type of speed out there.  11 miles was perfect and the weather was gorgeous.  It was the perfect day!
Actually a decent race pic...
All our friends and the first trail race for Lily!

Thank goodness Julie was there to run it with me!  So much fun!

Under those leaves...there are rocks...lots of rocks...

I also have tried my hand at mountain biking a couple of times.  I am still working on that.

Good thing DK snapped a pic BEFORE helping me out...

The boys love it too.
So this fall has been filled with a lot of fun stuff. I am very blessed to be able to do fun stuff and I am super excited about getting the whole family (that's right I said WHOLE family) out and getting some mountain biking in together.  Now that everyone has bikes and my husband got some sexy bike shorts, we are good to go!
